The Learn Green / Live Green expo will be an annual teaching and sales event supporting the Asthma and Allergy foundation of America, and is our fiscal beneficiary.

Learn Green / Live Green is about living an All-natural, Organic and Eco-Friendly lifestyle.

Event Goal: is to educate and encourage the sales of Organic, All Natural and Eco-Friendly Living.
Mission: to give people the knowledge they need to make their NEXT ACTION a more sustainable one.

The Learn Green / Live Green event shifts from exhibition by day to black-tie gala in the evening, again to raise even more funds for the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America. The Wanda Hunt Band’s “old school” rhythm and blues will energize the attendees as they feast on organic and all natural hors d’oeuvres. Highlights also include a silent and live auction. Tickets are $75 per attendee, with a portion to be tax deductible; a twenty-five dollar (per ticket) discount is given to exhibitors and corporate sponsors. Gala sponsorships and auction donations are being collected until the end of March 2009.

* Day Event Entry tickets will be sold for $5.00. The ticket price is discounted to $3.00 each for your entire group by bringing one bag of paper products to be recycled.*

Recycling:

The small changes people can make to help the environment and even make money in the process. People will learn how to recycle all paper, including food containers and cardboard, plastic, glass, foam including packaging inserts and even how to turn food scraps into organic fertilizer.

My eight years as manager and coordinator of fundraising events at Outback Steakhouse has given me the experience and knowledge to head this event. I worked for Points Ahead Marketing and Pattison Products running diversified events, Hoop it up tournaments, and Cleveland Indians Baseball Fundraisers, which benefited local charities. I worked for Repros, Inc., as one of their top sales executives, for the past six years. Repros, Inc. is also a partial incline donor of large format printing for the Learn Green / Live Green event. Repros, Inc. led me to my current position with All-Scan. All-Scan, as of September 15, has given me their permission to run my part of All-Scan as DBA Learn Green / Live Green until April 19, 2009. I am a Mother of a 2 year-old son. He has such severe asthma and allergies that I had to transform our day to day living and seek out the most benign products and foods to keep him healthy. When I started the Learn Green / Live Green Mission, I learned that Northeast Ohio is a somewhat difficult place to find these products and services and that we were not very eco-friendly, but within the last six months, my opinion is changing. Our community is stepping up its efforts to educate businesses and consumers and I have made this my personal mission to help them. I am coordinating this grassroots event called Learn Green / Live Green, which is held by All-Scan, LLC, with the purpose of educating Northeast Ohio businesses and families about the benefits of living a more eco-friendly and healthy lifestyle. This started as just a name and idea and has blossomed into an expo and fundraising event for The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, who we thank for their agreement to be our fiscal beneficiary.

Lisa Ann Kleines:
Account Executive

I worked for Estee Lauder as a sales associate and was one of the top three in the state of Ohio in multiple sales, while attending the University of Akron. I received my degree in Communications and Theater arts and went on to be an Account Coordinator with Lancôme cosmetics. Like any mother, I have dedicated a lot of time and love to my children, their schools, and activities. I worked for six years doing window treatments for Curtain Connection based in Montrose and the last four years I have decorated high-end homes for the holidays with Business Interiors and Environments, interior design division. With my eldest child starting the University of Akron I made the decision to venture back into the work force last year at a boutique in Pilgrim Square, called The Garment District. I worked there for one year until the owner gave up her lease. At the same time I started working with Suzanne, as an account executive for the Learn Green / Live Green expo. The best way to describe my business ability is that I care about people and I am willing to sacrifice for it. Through our local school systems, church, and my work with Business Interiors and Environments I have been able to contact and obtain a wide variety of interest and support for Learn Green / Live Green event. I look forward to helping Learn Green / Live Green blossom into a burgeoning business.

Our Market

This event is aiming to attract people of any age, race or religion who want to Buy Green and Play Green.

This fun, festive and informative one-day expo is targeted to both businesses and families. Adults and children alike, will be entertained, educated and inspired to take action for making a difference towards a healthier body and a greener tomorrow.

We researched community events in Ohio for a period of five months and brought back every positive aspect concerning a successful event. We found the only way to attract the entire community was to make this event fun and festive, while being educational. Everyone and every business wants to do the right thing, but they need to know that it only takes small steps to create environmental change.

  • The Learn Green/Live Green is the first of its’ kind to hit Summit County. Events of this nature have attracted attendance of up to 22,000 people. We built a www.learngreenlivegreen.com website for our community which will eventually be a community newsletter and Summit County, Ohio Green Business Directory. Green exhibits of this caliber have received as many as 26,000 visits during the week of the Expo.
  • With the Venue being at one of the largest and most well known events sites in Akron, Ohio, we plan to have a 1st year attendance of as many as 7,000 patrons.
Note: Our long-term goal for Learn Green/Live Green is for it to become its own entity and be a Green business that supports local Ohio. Initially we would like our website to become a green community resource guide/newsletter (Ohio Green Directory) and build a magazine directed toward green business in our community.

Short Note: My name is Suzanne Balch and my son is twenty-months old and suffers with severe allergies and asthma. My son is one of the youngest patients in our city to be diagnosed with asthma. Diagnosis of asthma is normally given after three years of age. My son’s asthma is controlled by two must-have daily medications and three to five more as needed medications that are given up to four times per day. His asthma symptoms worsen with allergy and trigger related events, but with these medications he can live a monitored normal lifestyle. It is imperative that our children participate in outdoor and indoor physical activities!

We have found that by using Organic and All Natural foods and Eco Friendly products for my son, rather than man-made substitutions, that he has ten times less breathing problems.

This event was conceived while in the hospital, waiting on yet another test to be taken. I realized that people are unaware of how life-threatening allergies and asthma can be! I thanked God, as I sat there, that we were blessed to be able to pay for the medicines and tests that he needs. I thought about, “What about the individual who can't afford all the tests and medicines it takes to care for a child with these problems?” This is when, “Learn Green / Live Green was born.

No matter what it takes - I want to promote community awareness of Asthma and Allergies to educate not only those who suffer with these symptoms, but their families about how “Living Green” will increase quality of life.
